Jube KT88
Here is a single channel Jube and is based on the M 2555X. Pair of KT88’s in the output section for about 60W. This one had no loop but a future version could certainly have one. Super versatile from mid crunch to high gain. Uses the M-style LED clipping system, but you can dial that back and go for modded Marshall approach if you prefer. Nice and simple. Sourmash head cab.
Slumlord 100W
A beast! 4xKT88 for over 100W. 2 channel, a high gain Daisycutter and a F-style clean Corona. This thing has AUTHORITY! Has a loop. Would love to build another similar one.
Harem 45
45W from a pair of 6L6GC’s. This is a single channel high gain amp and is based on a D****** HRM Hot Rubber Monkey? Hot Rodded Marshall? I have been building this version for many years. On the actual D amp, the OD tonestack is hidden inside – a dumb place for it. And this amp is used with the first tonestack bypassed (as is available on the original) but lo and behold that leaves us with the room to bring the internal OD tonestack to the front panel. Was a custom build for a local player.
Grizzly 100W
Another custom build for a local player. 4 x EL34 for 100W. It slams. This circuit is based on the Orange Rockerberb which I think has the most gain compared to any amplifier I can think of. Nixed the reverb though! Has a loop with the proper signal level. A channel switcher. Would love to do another!
Harem 80
The Harem 80 is a 4 x 6L6 amp is a channel switcher. HaReM. D****** HRM. Hot Rubber Monkey or Hot Rodded Marshall. I know the D style circuit very well and I was never really impressed with the clean channel. I absolutely prefer the Corona (F-style Blackface/Twin) and that’s what this one has. Might be possible to again do the plexiglas/ABS front.
Harem 80
Another 4 x 6L6 Harem. HaReM. D****** HRM. Hot Rubber Monkey or Hot Rodded Marshall. I know the D style circuit very well and I was never really impressed with the clean channel. I absolutely prefer the Corona (F-style Blackface/Twin) and that’s what this one has. Sourmash head cab. Channel switcher. Critical signal path is point-to-point.
Daisycutter 27
Daisycutter is a OD+Clean channel switcher and has a pair of EL34’s in the output stage. H channel is my extremely tweaked hi gain channel and the L channel is more Plexi-like. Sourmash head cab.
Jube Daisycutter 45W
This is a 2 channel high gain amp with separate inputs for each channel. 45W from a pair of 6L6’s in the output stage. Jube is the M-style 2555X LED clipping circuit (very cool) and the Daisycutter is the high gain modern Marshall but with a little more nuance. Both circuits tweaked and tweaked and tweaked and tweaked. Has a loop.
Sunset 22
The Sunset 22 was custom build and the DNA is from the Bogner XTC. 22W from a pair of 6V6’s, and is loud enough to gig with. Lots of options here for tweaking the tone. Customer was building his own head cab. Overall, a very impressive amplifier. I know the Bogner circuits quite well.
Duophonic 22
Here is another 22 watt Duophonic and is related to the Atticus. but it has separate inputs vs channel switching. There are a pair of 6V6’s in the output stage and are run conservatively which leads to a long long life. H channel is my high gain 4 stage OD channel, related to the Asheville but does not use a cold clipper. The L channel is my Corona (Blackface/Twin). It has a loop with a level that will not overdrive 9V pedals
3 Channel Preamp
From 2018. A unique 3 channel preamp. 3 separate input, 1 output with a master volume. First channel is based on the Uberschall (modern hi gain), the second channel is my SIBLY which is medium-high gain modded Marshall, and the third channel is my Brawler which is kinda like a cross between a Blackface and a Bassman, and with a little bit more gain. Cab was getting built by the customer. I would consider doing another one that is similar.
Daisycutter 8W
This Daisycutter is from 2018 and is a refined high gain amp. A single EL34 in the output stage. There is a WATTS control which brings the wattage down to less than a watt. No loop on this one, as I think if you are using the output stage for some clipping you don’t want to put your delay/reverb before that stage. I don’t do a ton of single-ended amps as the output transformers are more expensive than push pull. But if ultimate loudness HAS to be constrained this is the way to go.
Harem 35
Here is another HaReM, a D-style HRM overdrive. Been tweaked over many years. Pair of 6L6’s in the output stage run very conservatively. I had called early versions of the Harem Novadrive. This was a custom build and the customer built his own head cab.
Pasadena 18
Good ol’ Seafoam Green. I personally love it but some hate it. Pasadena is the hometown of EVH and the best tube choice that captures the essence of Van Halen’s first album is a pair of EL84’s in fixed bias in my not so humble opinion. Certainy loud enough to gig with. I would probably add a bright control and presence on future builds. Better than a Friedman Pink Taco (we have one). Very, very touch responsive.
