SEPT 2026 UPDATE – The Double M is REAL!  Many options available.

What is the DOUBLE M?  It started as a combination of Plexi/Superlead and JCM800.

-Plexi is true to the original except the single input with both I and II channels in parallel, like Eric Johnson does, and is a bit better than simple jumpering (which results in a 6db loss for the jumpered to channel)

-JCM800 will be true to original except no L input.  BUT I do have the ability to have the JCM with higher gain than stock.  (It’s REALLY good)

-JCM master volume will also affect the Plexi channel.  I never had the experience where a master hurt the Plexi sound – but if YOU don’t want a master on the Plexi channel, dime it!

-Depth control is going to be standard.   What Presence does to the high end, Depth does to the low end.  But there is a potentially large unseen benefit to having both Presence and Depth, in addition to the normal tone shaping.  That benefit is the ability to control the overall negative feedback of the amp.  Want to get rid of NFB?  just dime both Presence and Depth.

-Many different options for the output stage.  EL84, 6V6, EL34, 6L6, KT88

-Loop will be included with most Double M amps

-Many will be channel switchers

The first Double M up is the custom build “Plextortion”

-24W from a pair of EL34’s (runs at EVH B+ voltage)

-There is a boost gain stage which can be in front of either the Plexi or JCM setting.  4 way rotary switch offers:

-1 is Plexi

-2 is JCM

-3 is Plexi with the boost

-4 is JCM with the boost

#1 Plextortion – not a channel switcher but optional gain stage for each channel, 24W from a pair of EL34’s, no loop

#2

The second is also a custom, and is called the “Double M”

-40W from a pair of EL34’s

-channel switcher

-effects loop

-JCM channel has more gain than a 2203/JCM800 and is glorious – only after tweaking it did i realize it turned out to be very similar to a Friedman JEL.

#3

This one has increased gain for both the J+ channel and AND Plexi channel.  J+ is HIGH GAIN!  P channel is cascaded Plexi channels as opposed to the parallel connection – cascade = MORE GAIN.

#4

Dookie mod + JTM channels. Channel switcher, loop, 40W from a pair of EL34’s.  MY Dookie (BJA) channel is BETTER than Marshall’s current expensive offering as it is more versatile.  Customer chose the name (but I like it!)
