JULY 2026 UPDATE – The Double M is REAL!

What is the DOUBLE M?  Combination of Plexi/Superlead and JCM800.

-Plexi is true to the original except the single input with both I and II channels in parallel, like Eric Johnson does, and is a bit better than simple jumpering (which results in a 6db loss for the jumpered to channel)

-JCM800 will be true to original except no L input.  BUT I do have the ability to have the JCM with higher gain than stock.  (It’s REALLY good)

-JCM master volume will also affect the Plexi channel.  I never had the experience where a master hurt the Plexi sound – but if YOU don’t want a master on the Plexi channel, dime it!

-I am going to offer a Depth control on this one.  What Presence does to the high end, Depth does to the low end.  But there is a potentially large unseen benefit to having both Presence and Depth, in addition to the normal tone shaping.  That benefit is the ability to control the overall negative feedback of the amp.  Want to get rid of NFB?  just dime both Presence and Depth.

-Many different options for the output stage.  EL84, 6V6, EL34, 6L6, KT88

-Loop can be added

-There is the possibility of having the 2 channels footswitchable

-If you want to be the first to order this amp idea, you will get a great price on it, you can name it whatever you want, and you have your colour choice.   EMAIL ME FOR A PRICE.  No hard sell.

The first Double M is the custom build “Plextortion”

-24W from a pair of EL34’s (runs at EVH B+ voltage)

-There is a boost gain stage which can be in front of either the Plexi or JCM setting.  4 way rotary switch offers:

-1 is Plexi

-2 is JCM

-3 is Plexi with the boost

-4 is JCM with the boost

#1 Plextortion – 24W EL34’s optional boost for both Plexi and JCM channels, no loop

#2

The second is also a custom, and is called the “Double M”

-40W from a pair of EL34’s

-channel switcher

-effects loop

-JCM channel has more gain than a 2203/JCM800 and is glorious – only after tweaking it did i realize it turned out to be very similar to a Friedman JEL.

#3

Pretty much the same as #2, save for a couple very small tweaks
