Jube Corona Duphonic

22W 6V6 channel switcher.  H is the Jube is based on the M 2555X.  Super versatile from mid crunch to high gain.  Uses the M-style LED clipping system, but you can dial that back and go for modded Marshall approach if you prefer.  Clean channel is a Corona (F style Blackface/Twin).  Enormous palette of tone available. Yes, there is a loop.

Jube 35

Another example of the 2 channel Jube, and the OD circuit is based on the M 2555X.  Super versatile from mid crunch to high gain.  Uses the M-style LED clipping system, but you can dial that back and go for modded Marshall approach if you prefer. Has a loop with the proper signal level.

Joe Ray

This channel switcher has a pair of 6V6’s in the output stage so it is nice and loud, but not stupidly loud, approx 22W.  The H channel is an example of my Asheville high gain circuit (based on the SLO100) and just rips nicely.  The L channel is a finely tweaked Plexi type circuit.  CRUNCH!  Sourmash head cab.  Has a loop with PROPER LEVEL.  Was a custom build.

Duophonic 22

This Duophonic 22 has a pair of 6V6’s in the output stage so it is nice and loud but not stupidly loud.  The H channel is an example of my Asheville high gain circuit (based on the SLO100) and just rips nicely.  But that’s not all – there is a second channel which is Vox based and features the slightly neurotic Vox AC30 tonestack.  Has loop.

Asheville KT88

The Asheville is going remain as one of my main amps as it is just so good.  DNA is from a SLO100 but tweaked and refined over many years.  This one has a pair of KT88’s in output section and is about 60W.  I have added a couple small things to the Asheville circuit since this amp was build – a second gain control and a depth (resonance) control.

British Invasion

The British Invasion is based on the Hiwatt Dr504/DR103.  Pair of EL34’s in output for about 35W – I am not beating the snot out of the output tubes.  Single input based in the sweet spot between the Hiwatt brilliant input and the normal input – juuuust right.  But that’s not all – there is a second channel which is Vox based and features the slightly neurotic Vox AC30 tonestack.

KP2

A custom build obviously.  It’s got it ALL goin’ on.  Customer was sourcing his own head cab.  4 x EL84 for about 40w.  Fixed bias – this ain’t no compressed AC30 type sound.  This has authority! A  Jube channel and a Pasadena channel, both in the high gain category and complement each other nicely.  Variable feedback and a lot of other goodies.  Tweak to your heart’s content.

M50X

50W EL34 amp.  We have a Friedman Small Box (Custom) and I know the circuit well.  The M50X is better. This one has a footswitchable boost.  Sourmash cab.  Similar to a Naylor SD60.

Pasadena 18

Another example of an EL84 Pasadena.  You know where the names comes from.  This one has a solid cherry cab.  Critical signal path is point-to-point.  Individual bias pots – yes this EL84 is fixed bias – sounds BETTER.  Heater voltage tweaked and floating +38VDC above ground for low noise.  EL84’s certainly benefit from feedback, they are pentodes and without NFB the output impedance is too high.

Pasadena 18

Pasadena is the hometown of EVH and the best tube choice that captures the essence of Van Halen’s first album is  a pair of EL84’s in fixed bias in my not so humble opinion.  Certainy loud enough to gig with.  I would probably add a bright control and presence on future builds. Better than a Friedman Pink Taco (we have one)

Cambridge 22

Here is a 6V6 Hiwatt style amp.  A custom build.  One input which splits the difference between the too bright Brilliant and the too dull Normal.  Superb cleans, unique Hiwatt tonestack and phase inverter offers you a little different flavour from the typical F and M type tones.  Nice crunch comes at less than ear-splitting levels.

Clydetone 27

Here is an EL34 channel switcher Sourmash head cab.  A custom build. Tubes are run very conservatively but actual wattage a bit more than 27W.  H channel is an AFD and the L channel is F-style Blackface/Twin.

Atticus 35

The Atticus will be a mainstay in the Phaez lineup for the foreseeable.  A channel switcher with the H channel a super tweaked overdrive – borrowing from the Asheville, Daisycutter, and AFD!  The L channel being chimey cleans of the Corona (F-style AB763 Twin).  Very useful bright control for each channel.  Level for the OD channel allows you to match the volume of the 2 channels

Jube 27

Here is an EL34 Jube with a Sourmash head cab.  Tubes are run very conservatively but actual wattage a bit more than 27W.  Based on the M 2555X with it’s very cool LED clipping system.  Has a loop and a lower gain L channel.  A truly awesome mid and high gain amp.

Audie Faye

This is a 2 channel 22W 6V6 custom build.  The L channel is an AB763 (Blackface/Twin) and the H channel is TWRECK Xpress inspired.  I know the Xpress circuit very well and have built many variations centered around the A1B Kelly ’90 theme.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Xpress, it is a cross between a Twin and a JCM800/2204 ie gain stage>tonestack>gain stage>10K cathode stage>M phase inverter etc.  The original Xpress way too loud though!  This one has a master volume and a buffered loop.  This one is a ton of fun to play!

Special Forces

The Special Forces is a custom Asheville (which gets it’s DNA from a SLO100).  As you have probably surmised, I know that circuit well.  35W from a pair of 6L6’s.  There is the addition of a FAT and LOW switch which changes the tonality a bit – these were added as per the customer request.
